Stuart grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and attended the College of Wooster for his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He pursued both a law degree and master's degree from Case Western Reserve University, balancing coursework in patent law and biochemistry.

In his spare time, Stuart enjoys reading the latest Brandon Sanderson novels, Live-Action Role-Playing (LARP), needlepoint, and playing long board games with friends.
